Terms of Service
Last updated: 29 April 2026
These terms govern your use of OptomIQ Commerce (the "Platform") to reorder contact lenses through your optometry clinic. By placing an order through the Platform you agree to these terms.
1. Who provides what
OptomIQ provides the technology that connects you to your clinic and contact lens supplier. Your optometry clinicis the party you have an ongoing clinical relationship with and is responsible for the accuracy of your prescription and clinical oversight of your reorders. The contact lens supplier (e.g. Johnson & Johnson, Alcon, CooperVision, Bausch + Lomb) manufactures and dispatches the product.
2. Prescription requirements
Contact lenses are a therapeutic good. To place an order through the Platform you must:
- have a current, in-date contact lens prescription issued by a qualified optometrist registered in Australia;
- be the patient named on that prescription, or be ordering on behalf of a dependent for whom you have legal authority;
- be ordering the lens specified by your prescription — not a different brand, base curve, or power.
The Platform automatically blocks orders where the linked prescription has expired and warns you when a prescription is approaching expiry. It is your responsibility to book a follow-up eye examination when prompted.
3. Pricing, postage, and payment
- Lens prices are set by your clinic and shown at checkout in Australian dollars. Contact lenses are GST-free in Australia under the GST Act when prescribed.
- Postage is charged at the supplier's actual rate. Free-shipping thresholds apply per supplier where the supplier offers them (currently J&J at $99 and CooperVision at $80 cart subtotal).
- Payment is processed by Stripe Australia Pty Ltd. By submitting your card details you authorise Stripe to charge the order total on the clinic's behalf.
4. Delivery
Delivery method depends on the supplier:
- Johnson & Johnson:ships to your clinic; you collect from the clinic at agreed times. We'll text you when your order arrives.
- Alcon, CooperVision, Bausch + Lomb: ships direct to the address you provide at checkout.
Estimated arrival windows are shown at checkout. If a lens is on back-order the supplier will notify the clinic and we will pass that information through to you.
5. Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
6. Returns and refunds
Because contact lenses are a therapeutic good and prescription-fitted, we cannot accept returns of opened or partial boxes for change-of-mind reasons. If a lens is defective on arrival, contact your clinic within 7 days and they will work with the supplier to arrange a replacement. Defective lens claims are governed by the supplier's warranty and the Australian Consumer Law (above).
7. Communications and consent
By providing your phone number and email you consent to receive order-related communications and reminder messages from your clinic via OptomIQ. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS or using the unsubscribe link in any email — your clinic will be notified and reminder sending will stop. Order-related transactional communications (e.g. order confirmations, pickup-ready notifications) will continue while you have an active order.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- provide false prescription details or impersonate another patient;
- resell lenses ordered through the Platform;
- attempt to circumvent prescription-expiry checks;
- interfere with the security or operation of the Platform.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, OptomIQ's liability for any other claim is limited to the amount you paid for the affected order.
10. Changes
We may update these terms as the Platform evolves. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent change.
